Who gets hurt?

Obese people. 85% of those injured at a major manufacturer were overweight or obese.

Missing from the data is any indication as to how many of the manufacturer's employees were overweight, as well as the injury rate amongst the non-overweight. So the 85% number may not mean much.

However, of the population over 20 years old 55% are overweight;
if the manufacturer's population mirrors that of the country, the injury rate among the overweight is clearly higher than among their skinnier co-workers.

And it's not just a workers comp problem - conditions related to excess weight and obesity account for almost 10% of US health care expenses, or about $150 billion.

What does this mean for you?

Insight into where your dollars are going, and an indication on what you need to work on to do something about those costs.
